Fort Lee Federal Credit Union has released our upcoming new name, Homebase Credit Union. Along with the new name, the new logo and colors were revealed. The information was announced at our annual meeting on April 27, 2022, and it will become official in July of this year.
Fort Lee Federal Credit Union has a strong history of serving Fort Lee and the surrounding communities.
Founded in 1952 by Fort Lee employees, the credit union started offering savings and loan accounts. Now, in 2022, we are a full-service financial institution and home to over 17,000 members. When the credit union expanded membership eligibility to the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area in 2019, our service area increased to include fourteen counties and four cities.
“We chose to change our name to better reflect our entire service area. Our new name makes it clearer to all eligible members, with and without a connection to Fort Lee, that we are the home and family they can always depend on for their financial needs,” states Patsy Stuard, CEO.
“We believe this name speaks to the heart of who we are as an organization and how we want to serve the community. It combines our legacy and future, providing growth so we can continue to fulfill our mission: to improve the lives of our members and build a stronger community,” adds Stuard.
The new name, Homebase Credit Union, will go into effect in July 2022. We want to assure members that we are still the same financial institution; we are not changing ownership. Like all credit unions, Homebase Credit Union is and always will be owned by our members.
Moving forward, members will continue enjoying the same products and level of service they have come to expect from the same employees who have always served them. The name change will have no impact on any member accounts. Existing cards, checks, and direct deposits will still work the same.
Fort Lee Federal Credit Union is a full-service financial institution with more than $260 million in assets and serves over 17,000 members. For information about the name change, visit fortleecu.org/homebasecu.
