This year marks the 70th anniversary of our credit union. Beginning in 1952 with just savings and loans, Homebase Credit Union has grown and evolved into a 17,000-member, full-service community credit union offering a complete array of financial products and services. Through the years, our mission has remained steadfast: to improve the lives of our members and build a stronger community.
With this mission in mind, we are embarking on two significant initiatives that will help promote growth and strengthen our credit union’s future.
New Name
We announced at our annual meeting last September that we had begun an initiative to change the name and branding of our credit union. In 2019, Homebase Credit Union expanded our credit union charter to encompass the entire greater Richmond area including 14 counties and four cities. A new name will better represent our current veteran and community membership and provide a clearer understanding of membership eligibility. Rest assured, while our name will change, our mission, values, products, and services will remain constant. We are—and will continue to be—the same staff, Board, and community credit union you know and depend on.
Our new name will be announced at our Annual Meeting on April 27, 2022. Expect to see updated signage, website, online and mobile banking, and more starting in July 2022.
New Branch
We also announced that we will add another branch location. As our charter and membership have expanded, our physical footprint is growing to better serve the needs of our members and community. Homebase Credit Union purchased property in Chesterfield County on the corner of Route 10 and Bermuda Orchard Lane (near the River’s Bend area). We’ll keep you posted on our progress!
As we celebrate 70 years of service, we are energized about our future. We send a heartfelt thank you for your loyalty, and we look forward taking these exciting steps with you.
